I talked about it with one of my professors with whom I feel comfortable to ask this kind of questions. I asked him why he answers only 2 out of 5 questions. He said b/c he is old and forget things then while smiling left the class.(that was BS b/c he is at his late 40's). I talked about it with a cell biologist research assitant. She said b/c in America it is extremly important for students to be independent. There is a value for learning by yourself vs someone teaching you. I absolutely understand your frustration. Sometimes they want us to run an experiment without knwoing enough about the equipment. When we ask, they say take the manual and read it. Can you imagine to take the manual of IR( Infrared equipment) It just takes 30 minutes to read it while you have only 3 hours for your project.

Well, I don't mind reading, learning and searching at all. Actually, I rarely ask a question about my own project. Most of my ignored questions belong to buying equipments, money matter and other stuff. when you do your PhD, you are on your own. Sometimes you even have to design your research. But for example, it pisses me off when I don't get any response for buying a damn freaking $30 printer cable.

I think it's their fear of commitment... They don't like to commit to an issue and end up having to deliver... They also don't like to leave hard evidence behind because then they can't deny things! And you know how good they are in screwing us!
In case of your printer cable, I think someone's being cheap... they are going to "yaboo ab bedan" so to speak till you get tired of waiting and either find a creative way to fix your problem or you buy it out of your own pocket... that happened with a friend of mine and a couple of dollars reagent that he ended up buying with his own money to get the damn project moving forward!
